A cicchetti plate, Peroni drink and some of cinema’s greatest classics…all for just £15
FORGET the overpriced popcorn and flat soft drink: what you really want when watching a great movie is something that rises to the occasion. Fortunately, from 5-8 March it’s the Fumo Film Festival: which means you can enjoy one of four fantastic movies with a Peroni tipple and a plate of delicious cicchetti snacks for just £15. Let’s face it, that’s a lot better value that you get at the cinema; and you have the plush surroundings of San Carlo Fumo to boot.
Films include The Talented Mr Ripley (Sunday, 4.30pm), The Great Beauty (Monday, 7.30pm), Cinema Paradiso (Tuesday, 7.30pm) and The Italian Job (Original) at 7.30pm on Wednesday. The theme, of course, is silver screen productions set in some of Italy’s most beautiful locations - from the Bay of Naples to Sicily and the glorious capital of Rome - but all are additionally united in their award-winning acclaim, spanning Oscars to Baftas and Golden Globes.
Want to really make an occasion of it? For an extra £19.95, the Fumo team have crafted an exclusive pre-show cinema club menu. Start with bruschetta - wild mushroom or Pachino tomato - before tucking into a choice of baby mozzarella, arancini or salt cod croquettes. Following that there’s a choice of lasagne al forno, spaghettini vongole (baby clams, white wine, chilli and garlic), spaghetti carbonara or ravioli with spinach and ricotta. Side options include baby peas with pancetta and onions, zucchini fries, roast potatoes, fries and Pachino tomato salad.
If that doesn’t sound like a blockbuster evening, we don’t know what does.
