FACEBOOK is now the number one way to communicate a birthday wish.

That’s right, you’ll be more likely to receive a 'Happy Birthday' message or ‘like’ on your Facebook wall these days, rather than a good old fashioned card in the post, phone call or even a text message.

That is unless you live in Manchester where, according to gift card company One4All, people still love traditional birthday cards despite the increasing trend of social media. Those living in the region are more likely than anywhere else in the UK to still send and receive a birthday card.

In Manchester people are also more likely to book their birthday off work, with 33 per cent opting to work on their birthday, compared to the national average of 60 per cent.

As a result of these findings One4All is now attempting to raise awareness of the need to keep birthday special. Isn’t that nice?

Well, it would be if it wasn’t a social media campaign on Facebook. If you can't beat 'em, join 'em, apparently.
