Cibus dream team Giorgio and Marco will provide a bellissimo NYE in Levenshulme Image: Cibus

Cibus | New Year's Eve set menu | £55 per person

Cibus was one of our favourite new openings this year with its modern but rooted in tradition Italian menu. If you're a Leve local or fancy getting out of the chaos of the city on NYE this year, you could do a lot worse than four courses at Giorgio's place. Sharing starters include porcini mushrooms and truffle pastry, and whipped salt cod on crackers, then there is a choice of pasta dishes or pancake cannelloni for primo, halibut, big culinary hitters: venison or white asparagus for secondi and the agonizing decision of whether to go tiramisu or chocolate fondant for afters (the accurate Italian word for dessert, well, when they're in Levenshulme anyway). A glass of prosecco on arrival gets the party started. Bookings are old-school stylee by telephone: 0161 278 6304

A Selection Of Fresh Fish At The Oystercatcher Chorlton Manchester
New Year's predictions? I sea food Image: The Oystercatcher

The Oystercatcher | NYE menu | £65 per person

New Year's Eve is all about bringing out those special ingredients and dishes that only a big occasion seems to permit. Champers is the drink of choice and the perfect partner for biscuity bubbles is surely an oyster? The Oystercatcher in Chorlton is named after these slippery treats so it's a bit of a curveball that they don't feature on its NYE menu - maybe there will be a surprise on arrival? Nevertheless, there are plenty of top tier ingredients involved in this one: smoked salmon, tiger prawns, crab, halibut. If you're all into the fruits of the sea, this should get fireworks going in your imagination.

San Carlo | A La Carte Menu on New Year's Eve | Usual menu prices

Famous for providing "the very best in true Italian dining", San Carlo isn't promising a warehouse boogie or bottomless pizza darts, but it is serving up a quality, sophisticated menu with traditional ingredients. With private dining options also available for entertaining fam and friends, San Carlo's festive season is all about "glamour, gastronomy, and good times" so you'll feel just like Jay Gatsby this NYE (without the tragic unrequited love, hopefully).
