STEPPING into the newly refurbished eastZeast Riverside, you get the sense that this is an Indian restaurant that knows exactly what its customers want.
It reflects the cultural shift in taste towards places that make you feel at home rather than on display.
While the old eastZeast was all glitz and glamour and white leather seating, this new incarnation is a calmer, more comfortable affair. Soft fabrics. Soft lighting. Lots of space. And a very warm, relaxing ambiance.
With a long line of booths, furnished in plush velvet, you feel secluded and snug, while still able to enjoy the ambiance of a buzzing restaurant. It perfectly reflects the cultural shift in taste towards places that make you feel at home rather than on display.
The lighting is lower than before, and it can be changed from blue to green to red. Though in keeping with their more grown-up feel, they choose a colour for the evening and stick to it. The furnishings are in muted, earthy tones.
The bar area has a more upbeat feel with a frosted glass wine wall.
The changes have been a hit with customers who say it feels more comfortable than the old eastZeast. And the food – authentic Punjabi dishes cooked with finesse and style – is as popular as ever.
Why not check it out this week?
eastZeast Riverside is at Blackfriars Street, Manchester, M3 5BQ.
