Grab your thermals and snooze tubes…the Booth Centre’s charity Sleepout is back

As far removed as it may be from the nightmare of genuine homelessness (with added security and biscuits), the Booth Centre's annual outdoor sleepover at Manchester Cathedral offers at least a small glimpse into the realities of sleeping rough.

Not only does the iconic event raise awareness of the issue locally - over 480 rough sleepers perished in the past year, almost a tenth of them in Manchester - but it’s also a vital fundraiser, last year alone garnering £150,000 for the Booth’s vital work as one of the UK’s leading day centres. Now in its 24th year, the charity has helped thousands of people break the cycle of homelessness.

The Sleepout takes place in Manchester Cathedral

Sleepout participants can sleep inside the Cathedral or brave the elements outdoors on Friday 8th November, with all ‘sleepers’ receiving a certificate for their efforts.

Staff will be on hand to assist, provide security and talk about the Booth Centre’s work; while drinks and snacks will be available throughout the night, as well as a simple breakfast come morning. Those who like a lie in will be disappointed though, as ‘wake up and clear up’ is from 5.30am onwards - no sloths here.

Manchester Sleepout takes place at Manchester Cathedral on Friday 8th November from 7.30pm. For more information, and to register, visit boothcentre.org.uk/manchester-sleepout
