IMAGINE waking up to find that nobody is telling you the truth and that you are faced with an accounting fraud approaching $2 billion. More than that, your Chairman and Head of Compliance and Governance are also suspected of being involved. What do you do?
This event will allow you to hear Woodford’s often terrifying and sometimes hilarious story
This is the exact position that Michael Woodford, former CEO of Olympus, woke up to in April 2011. Within weeks of starting his dream job his nightmare soon began as his investigations into the fraud and corruption he had uncovered, were blocked.
A thirty year veteran of Olympus, Woodford found himself fired from his role, threatened and intimated to the point of fleeing Japan. But far from hiding, Woodford took a stand, fought back and exposed Olympus and the scandal it was embroiled in, at great personal risk to him and his family.
Now Woodford has a best-selling book, a film in the pipeline and a number of awards, including being the first person to be honoured by four national newspapers and named as 2011/12 ‘Business Person of the Year’.
This event will allow you to hear Woodford’s often terrifying and sometimes hilarious story, which takes us from his decision to expose the scandal, through to seeing an entire Board resign and being protected by armed police.
