THIS is an official release from Manchester International Festival explaining the ticketing situation for 2013. The words below are the Festival's not Confidential's.
Tickets are selling well across the Festival and two shows are currently sold out for the entire run. These are: Macbeth live performance and The xx in residence.
The Festival's policy on reselling tickets is very clear. We aim to stop the practice of reselling and therefore any tickets bought to be resold or touted will be cancelled with immediate effect.
Both Macbeth and The xx have small audiences – the Festival could have sold these events many times over. The limited capacity is part of the artists' vision for the work and both shows are playing throughout the entire Festival to accommodate as many people as possible.
In response to demand we have announced a big screen relay to 5000 people for Branagh's Macbeth on 20 July; tickets are still available for this event.
Some other events are sold out on specific nights with plenty of tickets available for other performances; this includes Massive Attack v Adam Curtis and Rite of Spring.
MIF supports artists to make new work – as plans grow and change we are sometimes able to release more tickets for shows which have been listed as sold out.
This has been the case for several of MIF13 shows including Goldfrapp, Mogwai/Zidane and Masque of Anarchy – these shows currently have availability.

We have a number of tickets available for every performance at £12 for Greater Manchester residents on a lower wage, bookable on a first-come-first-served, honesty basis by phone only and via existing community networks.

This includes tickets sold through Ebay, Viagogo, and other ticket re-selling websites, so you risk spending money on invalid tickets if you purchase tickets from these sites.
All tickets for Manchester International Festival events are sold through our box office partner Quaytickets and other external ticket agents.
Tickets booked directly from venues or other agents are strictly non-refundable. If available, Quaytickets will facilitate exchanges between MIF events. Should you be unable to attend an event due to extenuating circumstances, please email ticketing@mif.co.uk and we will deal with refund/exchange requests on a case by case basis.
