A group of Heroes and a couple of the champagne-loving Confidential team congregated at Epernay last week for a very decadent evening on the fizz.
The event was hosted by Epernay's Joey and Nate, who describe themselves as 'professional champagne drinkers' – a vocation the careers advisers failed to tell us about at school.
Joey and Nate provided an entertaining overview of the history and production of champagnes, and gave some particularly useful advice on what to buy and what to avoid when selecting your next bottle. Everyone was served three generous samples of champagnes, along with olives, nuts and fresh breads to soak it up.
The team at Epernay are obsessed with champagne and succeeded in passing on their enthusiasm to us. It was a great night out of fine drinks in fine surroundings. Another top up, please.
