SAN CARLO, the restaurant group that rekindled the North West's passion for Italian food, threw open the doors to Fumo last week.

And by all accounts, the new £1.7m St Peter's Square high-end Italian restaurant - San Carlo's fifth in the city (fifteenth in the UK) - has got off to a blinding start in the whopping great, ultra-modern, thirteen-storey, 273,000 sq ft One St Peter's Square building.
Manager Alessandro Distefano, the youngest of Don Carlo's breed, told Confidential at the launch party that Fumo had already served hundreds of guests in their opening week - and that's before an army of KPMG employees move into the offices upstairs.
Confidential recommends getting your bookings in for Fumo sharpish, once the suits descend you'll be lucky to get in before 2016.
And make sure to order the pigeon pate with black truffle. Genius. One of the best small plates Confidential has tried in yonks.
