THE FOOD slam gang that brought Friday Food Fights and Up In Your Grill to nearly 50,000 people in the city this year have just announced their latest venue - and it's a whopper - The Great Northern Warehouse on Deansgate (main image).
"The venue has never been used in this way before so fits with our strategy of finding unique historic places to hold our parties."
Friday Food Fights will begin a ten week stint at the venue from Friday 17 October to Friday 19 December, and bring more food, booze, DJs and bedlam to the empty unit in the former goods warehouse of the Great Northern Railway (completed in 1898), housed above Lucha Libre and All Star Lanes in this increasingly raucous corner of the city centre.
B.Eat Street were recently awarded the Best Food and Drink Pop-Up prize at the Manchester Food and Drink Festival 2014 awards ceremony.

Friday Food Fights

Each week, eight food traders will battle it out for the business of 500 party-goers. Some of the traders will be established restaurants, others will be fresh-faced street food start-ups out gunning for the big boys (B.Eat Street are welcoming applications from budding food traders - so get in touch at beatstreetmcr@gmail.com).
Big names that have fuelled B.eat Street’s previous events include Solita, Nutters, Mughli, Lucha Libre alongside newcomers such as recent Manchester Food and Drink Festival award winners, Viet Shack, and street food traders like the Hip Hop Chip Shop, Piggy Smalls and La Dolce Dolls.
The event will also featured fully-loaded bars, with all the usual craft beer and cocktail offerings, alongside a music line-up curated by celebrated Manchester night-life promoters Drop the Mustard.
It is rumoured that the event will spill out into Great Northern's empty units in the shopping arcade running adjacent to Deansgate, where there's also likely to be an outdoor drinking terrace (as seen below).

B.eat Street captain, Chris Legh, says: “Following on from the huge success of Up In Your Grill this summer we are really excited to be going back to our roots with Food Fight.
"We really wanted to go back to the area where B.eat Street first started and the Great Northern Warehouse offers a brilliant opportunity in one of the most vibrant parts of town.
"There is loads going on over there right now, from the relatively new Lucha Libre, All Star Lanes and Almost Famous, to the Albert Hall. What’s more, the venue has never been used in this way before so fits with our strategy of finding unique historic places to hold our parties.
“The venue which will hold just under 500 people at any one time will see us bring back the food challenges which were crowd favourites at Friday Food Fight and will also offer a new break-out mezzanine area looking down on the madness.”
Resident traders will be announced on Monday 6 October with the full line-up announced on Tuesday 7 October.
The first event will take place on Friday 17 October.
