Rosylee, Hula, Walrus and more were closed suddenly on Tuesday
Doors are locked. Shutters are down. Signs are up.
Numerous bars and restaurants were closed suddenly on Tuesday 30 October as the Northern Quarter-based hospitality group Mark Andrew Developments (MAD Ltd) fell into liquidation.
The company - which started out in 2004 with a small bar in Didsbury - ran venues including Rosylee, The Fitzgerald, Walrus, Hula, Tusk and The Blue Pig in the Northern Quarter, as well as three bars in Heaton Moor and one in West Didsbury.
MAD also operated the Lazy Lizard nightclub in The Printworks - which closed earlier this month for a 'refurb' - and the MAD Printing company, which traded out of their Stevenson Square headquarters.
It is understood that over 120 staff will lose their jobs, with some already taking to social media to enquire about available positions elsewhere.
In August 2017, it was reported that owner Mark Andrew had secured a 'multi million pound' funding package from Allied Irish Bank to finance an expansion which never really got going.
Confidential has approached MAD Ltd for comment.
