EVERYONE loves a sausage, particularly when it's one like those served at The Splendid Sausage Company. This new opening in Jack Spratt's old spot is taking the humble hot dog and making it mighty – with soft brioche buns piled high with quality British bangers and scrumptious sloppy toppings.

They're all locally sourced and high quality and there's a blanket ban on anything pale, skinny and suspiciously smooth in texture: #NoWieners

It's a messy eat but it's worth it. The sausages include several award-winners such as the Supreme National Champion 'Like Cumberland But Better'. They're all locally sourced and there's a blanket ban on anything pale, skinny and suspiciously smooth in texture: #NoWieners.

You can build your own classic dog (£7) by selecting your sausage from a menu of ten, then adding two toppings. Or go for one of their combos (£7.50-£9), such as the Danger Dog (spicy pork sausage topped with bacon, fried onion, jalapenos, hot sauce, three cheese mix and jalapeno pretzel pieces), or The King (beef sausage topped with battered banana, bacon, crispy bacon bits, dijon mustard, and peanut butter powder). They're all freshly cooked to order.

The sides are as imaginative as the hot dogs – cola baked beans with sausage bits, eggs benedict fries, plus your classics such as naked fries and chicken bites. And the dessert specials look like heaven with a strawberry perched on top.

There's also a good wine menu, a range of craft beers, adult-only milk shakes featuring Wyborowa Vodka, and a very tempting cocktail menu.

It has 'must-go-now' written all over it. The Splendid Sausage Company is open daily from midday. See the menus at our Splendid Sausage Company pages.
