WHILE the casino floor at Manchester235 exudes the glitz of Las Vegas, the neighbouring restaurant is a different story entirely.
Linen, set apart from the card tables and roulette wheels, is classically British in its styling. Heavy silver cutlery, smartly attired servers, and starched white table cloths. It's ditched the ostentation of the casino for a gentleman's dining club feel – and it works well.
In here the theatre and excitement is created by the food rather than a big win on the cards. There's a modern British a la carte menu plus a monthly-changing Table d'Hote menu. At £17.50 for two courses or £20 for three, it's a good-value way to experience Linen's consistently impressive cuisine.
Dishes on the April menu include a Caesar salad with anchovy fillets and garlic croutons, a 7oz rump steak with sundried tomato, flat mushrooms and hand cut chips, and a take on the Manchester Tart (renamed Manchester235 Tart) served with Boddingtons ice cream.
This menu is available Sunday to Friday from 5pm to 11pm and Saturday from 5pm to 7pm. See the April Table d'Hote menu. To book a table, please call Linen on 0161 828 0300.
