Who won, who lost and who fell off the stage this year?

The cream of Manchester’s hospitality industry was in top form on Monday night, letting their hair down at the 2017 Manchester Food and Drink Festival Awards.

To mark the festival’s twentieth anniversary, twenty award winners were announced during a bash at The Principal Manchester, covering this year’s best dining venues, drinking dens and most exciting talent across the board.

An annual shortlist of venues is drawn up by MFDF organisers together with an independent judging panel, made up of the region’s leading critics, food writers and hospitality experts. Each of these places is then ‘mystery visited’ over a three month period by the judges, scored, then combined with public votes submitted to the MFDf website.

This year, there were three new awards - Best Brewery, Best Vegetarian Offering and Best Sustainable Restaurant - all of which have been added to reflect the growth in these areas, and how important they are to the city’s food and drink economy and to consumers.

The awards event marks the culmination of the two week festival, which has been a huge success this year with over 100,000 people attending the Festival Hub in Albert Square as well as various events, banquets and parties.

Enough of that now, the winners are...
