 ‘Long – Crisp – Refreshing’, that’s the Northern Southside; gin, fresh lime, sugar syrup, fresh mint and Prosecco, since you’re asking. ‘Rich – Decadent – Creamy’, we’ll have a Black Forest Gateau, thank you. Yes, it contains cream, but it also boasts fresh blackberries, so that’s one of our five-a-day sorted. 

 Sounds good, doesn’t it? Well, just for you, we have a tasty new competition, with a £50 bar tab up for grabs to spend on the new cocktails at the Northern Quarter favourite The Pen And Pencil. You’ll be able to try out The Pen And Pencil’s own take on punch (the only cocktailat £9; the rest of the list is £8.50), sangria and the P&P Spritz, or, if you fancy something a bit different,‘Sweet – Tangy – Fun’ should help you navigate to the Space Dust, a kind of boozy Sherbet Fountain. 

Just in for the sunshine months (we wish): ‘Fresh – Summery – Citrus’, that’s the Aperiñha, combining Abehla Cachaça, Aperol, grapefruit bitters, lime and sugar syrup; ‘Fruity – Balanced – Citrus’, that’s called Kentish Summer and puts Tanqueray Sevilla orange-flavoured gin with passionfruit liqueur, Aperol, grapefruit juice, lemon and sugar syrup.

 Meanwhile, add Fentiman’s Rose Lemonade and thyme-scented liqueur to gin for the ‘Crisp – Delicate – Herbaceous’ Prime Thyme and fresh cucumber and cranberry juice to gin for the ‘Long – Fresh – Clean’ Calvert Cooler.
