Ahead of LFW, L'Oréal Blackett seeks styling advice in Selfridges Exchange Square
WHAT do you wear to an event which is set to dictate what we all should be wearing next season? What do you wear to an event where everyone is likely to look their darned best? It’s a question I’ve been mulling over these past few days; ‘what does Vogue say? Shall we do a classic Moss? Oh, that outfit could be very Viv Westwood.’
Whether Paris, New York, Milan or London, Fashion Weeks have become as much a conversation about the looks off the catwalks as on them. Street style, as seen on fashion editors, bloggers and off-duty models, has become just as much an integral part of the fashion spectacle as, say, LFW’s standout Burberry show.
Ok sure, I’m a small fish in a great big fashion pond, and I’m not expecting to be hounded by paparazzi or critiqued by Carine Roitfeld, but there’s an expectation to present yourself in the best possible way.
So to help out, Selfridges Exchange Square offered to style me up ahead of London Fashion Week S/S 2017 (17–21 February), sharing some of the latest collections from their very cool contemporary studio on the top floor.
And as British fashion is renowned for both its urban contemporary and luxe classic approaches to modern style, we decided we'd better experiment. Their advice: mix trend-led pieces with lots of unique, individual flair.
