IT was the launch pad for Peter Kay, John Bishop, Johnny Vegas and Jason Manford. It's the longest-running comedy club outside London. And it's about to celebrate its twentieth birthday.

The Frog and Bucket opened in spring 1994 in a small pub on Newton Street before moving to its current home at the top of Oldham Street.
One of the strongest supporters of grass roots comedy in the North West, it became known as the place to see up-and-coming talent and the big name stars.
Over the years it has hosted acts including Caroline Aherne, Steve Coogan, Alan Carr, Roy Walker, Sally Lindsay, Al Murray, Dave Gorman, Jack Whitehall, Omid DjalIli, Sarah Millican, Richard Herring, and Les Dennis to name a few.
On Wednesday 16 April The Frog and Bucket will stage an anniversary comedy show reflecting their last 20 years in the business.
The star studded line-up includes Dave Williams, Steve Harris, Steve Royle, Tony Burgess, Smug Roberts, Mick Ferry, Steve Shanyaski and Dan Nightingale, with the possibility of a few surprises along the way.
They promise a night of top class comedy, laughter and partying. Here’s to the next 20 years.
