It's certainly windy in the Quays - yet here's a question - what would the wind look like if you could see it? A new and exclusively commissioned piece for Quays Culture and The University of Salford, Aeolian Light is a monolithic, immersive light installation in the heart of The Quays that visualises the wind as an illuminated, chaotic force. The large-scale free outdoor sandbox experience will sit on the Plaza between The Lowry and the Lowry Outlet, from 18 December 2014 until 7 January 2015.

GRAMOTONES JAKE FLETCHER INTIMATE GIG | Pot Kettle Black | 19 Dec | 6 - 8 pm
Jake Fletcher from the Gramotones will be making an appearance at Barton Arcade coffee shop, Pot Kettle Black, after touring with the Inspiral Carpets. He'll be playing a two hour set of his favourite songs. This is one of the first live music gigs hosted by the coffee shop, which is the new venture of St Helen's rugby duo Jon Wilkin and Mark 'The Flash' Flannagan, and will be become a regular feature of their week with a host of different local talented musicians and singers performing exclusive gigs at the venue. Pot Kettle Black is also running a new #fillmycupfriday promotion where people can get a free festive drink on arrival between 5 - 6pm.

The Bridgewater Hall is to be filled with the sounds of traditional Christmas songs on 19 December. The concert's programme includes Ave Maria, O Holy Night and Joy To The World played on the majestic Bridgewater Hall organ.
