MANCHESTER'S current club scene lives under the shadow of the Hacienda days, ask anyone who graduated from the 'mad-for-it' 90s with a sickening vinyl collection and a serious case of tinnitus.

Still, there are a handful of nightclubs still flying the flag in Manchester, and Preston-based event and ticketing firm Skiddle.com has released a list of the top ten nightclubs in Manchester based on user reviews.

Former home to the Warehouse Project, Victoria Warehouse, gained an average rating of 4.28 out of 5 from Skiddle users. Typically playing house, techno, and drum & bass, clubbers praised the music, environment and people, with some describing it as 'one of the best nights out in a long time'.
Second place was awarded to Sound Control, the three-storey venue with a 500 capacity basement club, located on New Wakefield Street. Specialising in live music, it also runs busy nights such as Reach Out and Lowdown. Users rated the club 4.26 out of 5 based on the venue, music and general experience.
Antwerp Mansion in Rusholme Grove - a fringe club venue fashioned out of a rundown mansion - is home to popular club night HomoElectric. It scored a user rating of 4.25 out of 5 placing it in third. Antwerp Mansion describes itself as a hangout for creative folk with an art gallery and recording studio, as well as an alternative place for partying. Many reviews labelled the club as one of the greatest for underground parties.
