Select Property Group looking to make Home Improvements with Michelin star man
Tim Allen is to open a new restaurant in Manchester.
Though this Tim Allen is less 'To infinity and beyond', more 'Fancy some tea and blancmange?'.
Because this Tim Allen is the Yorkshire-born Michelin star-winning chef, formerly of D&D's Launceston Place in London and the Wild Rabbit in Kingham, Oxfordshire (both Michelin starred restaurants during Tim's tenure).
Having left the Wild Rabbit in August, Allen has just been announced as the new executive director of food and beverages at the Select Property Group - the property investment firm behind Manchester's Affinity Living, Vita Student and CitySuites schemes.
The group says Allen will head-up the launch of a new restaurant next to CitySuites apartments on Chapel Street, close to Victoria Station (pictured).
Talking about his appointment, Tim said: “My focus is simple. I want to produce consistent, quality food with products that are treat well and taste incredible. What we’re creating on Chapel Street will be amazing and that’s only just the beginning.”
Prior to his roles at The Wild Rabbit and Launceston Place, Tim was senior sous chef at the two Michelin-starred Whatley Manor in the Cotswolds, where he spent seven years under head chef Martin Burge. He previously spent four years with John Burton-Race, first at L’Ortolan and then at The Landmark.
Tim also appeared in BBC2’s Great British Menu in 2015.
More details on the restaurant will be released in the coming months.
