Exhibition: The Weeping Bakers exhibition at Kosmonaut, opens Fri 7 Feb at 5pm
An artistic duo, The Weeping Bakers, will be exhibiting their latest work at NQ favourite Kosmonaut on Tarriff Street.
‘A Slice Of Heavenly’ is their collection of college art with a quirky and amusing side. Watch out for a reoccuring figure named King Dadunga who pops up in many of the duo’s pieces.
Resident Kosmonaut DJ Pasta Paul will be on the decks and drinks are provided on arrival.

Just in case you forgot that Manchester is known for being indie, grungy and all manner of music cliches this Friday’s gig at Band On The Wall will remind you.
Featuring a local girl earmarked for success after supporting the likes of The Courteeners and Jake Bugg, Findlay is Stockport’s answer to the Yeah Yeah Yeahs.
XFM DJ Jo Good will be controlling the tunes until 2am with new hits from chart favourites and classics from Manchester names such as The Smiths, Oasis and The Happy Mondays. Can’t get more Manc than that.

Workshop: Jewellery Workshop with NOISE artist Ciara Clark, The Mill Gate Shopping Centre, Bury, Sat 8 Feb, 12pm-4pm
It’s always annoying to walk into a bar and see at least ten other girls with the same necklace as you. Unavoidable when many of us seem to flock to Topshop, Primark and H&M on a weekly basis.
Be different and make a statement necklace at the free workshop with jewellery designer Ciara Clark this Saturday at Bury's The Mill Gate Shopping Centre. Already spotted by Look magazine and other fashion names, Clark is a homegrown talent making a name for herself. Possibly on a necklace, possibly not.
Could be a talent you never knew you had, or at the very least will set you apart from the high street crowd on Saturday night.

Poetry: Carol Ann Duffy Poetry Reading at the Royal Exchange, St Ann's, Starts Monday 10 Feb
Carol Ann DuffyCarol Ann Duffy, the city's celebrated poet and the Poet Laureate, returns to Manchester to host a series of poetry nights at the Royal Exchange.
In conjunction with Manchester Metropolitan University - Duffy is Creative Director - the shows will offer 'a medley of jazz, poetry and conversation'.
Championing new talent as well as reading her own literary work, the nights offer music and the chance meet and get any of Duffy's books signed.

It’s back. If you don’t remember it last time then clearly The Rum Trail worked its magic.
A tour around Manchester with spirits experts The Liquorists sampling different rums in different locations is sure to brighten up February. Manchester is good for sport. Fancy that.
Football, rugby, cricket, swimming, you name it and Manchester has it and a great team of athletes to boot. This week sees the sport of squash have its moment in the spotlight with the British National Squash Championships being held in the city.
Quick, exciting and all without the amateur dramatic grunts of Wimbledon. A chance to see the sport's best fight it out for the national title before words like Olympics and Commonwealth become sport buzzwords.

Theatre: Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Manchester Opera House, Opens Wed 12 Feb
Based on the popular film with the most overused cockney actor in the industry, Michael Caine, and American comic Steve Martin, the theatre show opens at Manchester's Opera House.
With revered names including Robert Lindsay, Samantha Bond, Rufus Hound and Katherine Kingsley in the cast, the story is a humourous tale of two swindlers attempting to coin a millionaire heiress out of her family fortunes in the French Riviera. As the con unfurls the two realise there is only space for one swindler in town. Expect a show down of grand proportions.
