PROMOTION
IF you work or play in Spinningfields, and you’re a fan of live music, there’s a new night you’ll be interested in at The Lawn Club.
Expect tight, lean arrangements and sharp, clever lyrics in the style of Jarvis Cocker and Alex Turner
They’ve teamed up with The Underground Project and Lungfest to create The Wednesday Music Show – an end-of-month live music night that kicks off on 29 October.
Each show will feature four underground bands, a DJ set, and drinks deals from that month’s sponsor. And entry is free.
The line-up for the first event sets the standards high. Headlining is Man & The Echo – the Warrington-based four piece who have been quietly gaining industry whispers for their demos and live shows.
Expect tight, lean arrangements and sharp, clever lyrics in the style of Jarvis Cocker and Alex Turner. They’re described as playing ‘fantastic, immediate songs with that rarest of things in modern music: An opinion.’
Also on the bill are Leonard Hammersley, Sobi, and Rik Warren. And there’ll be drinks deals from the night’s sponsor, Portobello Road Gin.
It’s free to get in but for guaranteed entry, get yourself a drinks voucher in advance.
They’re £10 and give you two large Portobello Road Gin drinks, and include a £1 donation to Lungfest, which raises money and awareness for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust.
For a Wednesday night, it sounds like a winner: an afterwork wind-down with brilliant music, great drinks and likeminded company. All feet turn towards The Lawn Club.
