GETTING scared witless watching horror films, traipsing around houses trick-or-treating in the October cold, abstaining from meat (well, traditionally anyway)...surely there are better ways to celebrate Halloween? Like, gorging on sweets perhaps. Or even guzzling cocktails.

A Halloween that’s more dreamy than nightmarish

Fortunately, at The Pen and Pencil you can do both those things, as Willy Wonka has taken over Pen and Pencil for this year’s Halloween Spectacular.

Normally a recluse, squirreled away in his factory elaborating scrumptious concoctions, Mr Wonka is setting up shop in the Northern Quarter on Saturday 29 October for one night only - and this time he’s turned his attention to cocktails.

With The Pen and Pencil’s very own oompa loompas at his disposal, the night promises some spooktacularly delicious drinks and devilish deals aplenty from 8pm-2am. Expect sweet treats rather than tricks and the finest of spirits.

DJ Sam Flanagan of Propaganda will be spinning out funky house all night long and freaktacular costumes are encouraged.

What’s more, entry is completely free of charge: no Golden Ticket needed. For a Halloween that’s more dreamy than nightmarish, it’s a no brainer.

No need to book. See you there, if you dare...
