THE Font in Chorlton has just launched a brand new food menu that's got us planning our next visit to M21.
They've created a feast of herby, home-cooked, flavour-packed food.
They've created a feast of herby, home-cooked, flavour-packed food. Its influences span the globe, but focus in particular on Asian dishes such as the lentil and pumpkin samber.
This cockle-warming masala curry is served with a warm chapati, street salad and a raita dip. It's a very appealing plate of goodness – sustaining and wholesome.
The tandoori spiced salmon with turmeric potatoes is another boost for anyone craving feel-good food this winter. And the Indonesian babi kecap smells as delicious as it tastes – it's a pork shoulder marinated in ginger, chilli, kecap manis (like an Indonesian soy sauce), then slow cooked and served with street salad and toasted flat bread.
There's also a hot sandwich menu featuring snaffable fillings such as chorizo, salami, mozzarella and chipotle chilli jam. And a collection of sharer boards including a multicultural mezze laden with Vietnamese roasted pork belly, pulled Canonball chicken, rosemary and garlic wedges, chorizo, salami and blue cheese, plus crostini, marinated olives, yoghurt dip and salad.
The breakfast menu is served in true loafer style until 4pm. It ranges from classic big breakfasts to open tortilla baleada filled with refried beans, chorizo, mozzarella, fried egg and spicy chilli sauce.
They've also got sweet treats from Lush Brownies – we had the milk stout brownie recently and fell in love. Daily specials, soups, light dishes and a winning kids menu complete the offering.
Vibe-wise, The Font in Chorlton is an informal, relax-with-the-papers type place during the day. It's family-friendly, and dogs are welcome.
Confidential is selling vouchers for The Font – they give you £25 to spend on food and drink for just £12.50. Find out more.
