AS THE nights draw in and the city bustles with festive activity, there’s nowhere quite like a warm cosy drinking den to soak up the atmosphere. Especially one which comes complete with tinsel, presents, baubles and drinks served up in all manner of Christmassy receptacles.
...for me Christmas should be kitsch and more than a little bit cheesy
That’s just what we can expect from quirky new pop-up The Miracle on Edge Street, the brainchild of the team behind NQ’s Pen & Pencil. Opening on 1 December, the bar will trade for just fifteen days at 36-40 Edge Street (opposite Common) between 1 and 23 December; opening Wednesday to Saturday from 4pm ’til late (1am weekends). Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights will see DJs hitting the decks for some classic disco tunes, creating the perfect party vibes.
Signature cocktails, meanwhile, will be served in an array of vessels; from snowman mugs to the vintage glasses your Grandma favours for her Christmas Day sherry. Drinks created exclusively for The Miracle on Edge Street include: #newyearnewme - Belenkaya vodka, homemade winterberry cordial and Hobo East Coast Cyder; Prosec-Ho Ho Ho - Prosecco and home-made mulled wine syrup; and North Pole Addiction - Santa Teresa Claro rum, Mozart Dark Chocolate liqueur and Frangelico.
The bar will also offer wines, a selection of spirits and a range of Chilean craft beers on draft; including Nazca IPA, Brave Red Ale, Real Golden Ale, Rebel Imperial Pilsner and Brutal IPA (because nothing screams Yuletide cheer quite like a South Amercian beer with tropical, fruity notes).
Pen & Pencil owner, Dan Pollard, said: “The Miracle on Edge Street is going to be the best Christmas pop-up ever; the plan is to take over a little space in the Northern Quarter and turn it into the ultimate Christmas den.
"Sometimes people are just a bit too cool when it comes to celebrating but for me Christmas should be kitsch and more than a little bit cheesy. Wear your Christmas jumpers for special treats!”
The venue will also offer private hire for groups from ten to 100 looking to enjoy a truly magical Christmas celebration with friends or colleagues.
