IT may seem an unlikely location for such a glamourous retailer, but The Dolls House is certainly staking its claim amid all the vintage shops in Manchester’s Northern Quarter.

Located at the top off Tib Street, it’s a fashion destination store that’s home to the fashion and textiles agency side of the business as well as the glitzy retail space and beauty parlour.

Already a big hit with celebrities, The Dolls House recently supplied Lola Loves evening dresses for the bridesmaids at Rochelle Wiseman of the Saturdays wedding to Marvin Humes from JLS.

Owner Becca Johnstone and her team have been running the fashion and textile agency for many years, selling new and exciting brands such as Miss Francesca Couture and Lola Loves to the likes of ASOS and Selfridges as well as supplying fabric to top end designers such as Vera Wang and Dolce & Gabbana.

Having already made a reputable name for themselves behind the scenes, it made sense to set up shop and sell the brands they’ve long been promoting, as well as stocking their soon-to-be launched in-house brand.

Becca said: “The fashion and textile side of the business means we know the trends before anyone else because the fabrics actually come out long before the fashion trend reports. This is great for us as a store.”

Jessie J has also recently requested a dress and the cast of TOWIE and Desperate Scousewives simply can’t get enough of the red carpet-worthy dress ranges, priced from £60 - £950.

As well as fashion, The Dolls House also offers in store beauty treatments to give customers “a whole experience” according to Becca. MAC makeovers are available at weekends and HD brows and Ciate Caviar manicures complete the preening parlour.

The Dolls House is definitely for a niche market of shoppers with rails of gold sequinned ra-ra dresses and heavily structured peplums certainly not for any wallflowers. But if you’re looking for that ‘it’ dress for a really special occasion or fancy one of the aforementioned beauty treatments for a fraction of the price you’ll pay in department stores, it’s well worth a visit.
