MANCHESTER'S Mad Men-inspired bar, The Pen and Pencil, is getting ready to welcome in three of the best and biggest gin rivals on 1st March to host the ultimate battle. It’s a night of European gin-tasting, cocktails, and drinks aplenty, all to find 'Manchester’s favourite gin'.
Competing for the highest honour are three challengers: the Belgian Copperhead Gin, Mediterranean Gin Mare, and local gin, Manchester Gin. The three contenders will go head-to-head in a series of gin-tense battles on Wednesday 1st March, starting with three lively presentations from each gin expert.
Each pitch will be accompanied by a special gin cocktail, followed by the ultimate decider: a blind tasting session. Guests will cast the final vote in the bar’s gin-eral election at the end of the battle. The question is, who will win your vote?
As part of the gin-off, The Pen and Pencil will create a menu of six gin cocktails, using each brand of gin to create two cocktails each. The six cocktails will be sold and tallied for one week only from Monday 27th February to Sunday 5th March to find the most popular gin. The winning gin will be awarded a six-month listing with The Pen and Pencil.
The Battle of the Gin evening will be held on Wednesday 1st March, from 7.30pm. Tickets cost £15 including three gins as part of the blind tasting sessions, three cocktails, three presentations, and discounted drinks throughout the night.
