Tequila and Mezcal Fest, Saturday 8 – Sunday 9 August 2015

ENGULFING you in the taste, smells and ambiance of colonial and modern Mexico, Tequila and Mezcal Fest is coming to the North West for the very first time.

Salt and lime will be banned at the door along with novelty sombreros

This agave extravaganza will take place on the fourth floor of Merseyside Maritime Museum on Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 August.

Sip your way through an exclusive collection of some of Mexico's finest tequilas and mezcals whilst gazing out on the waterfront and Albert Dock.

It's not just about the agave nectar – divine though it is – it's about Mexican culture too. Just down the road from Tequila and Mezcal Fest, World Museum is hosting the biggest Mayan exhibition ever seen outside Mexico.

Tequila and Mezcal Fest is the first and only festival dedicated to showcasing Mexico's finest beverages. It was born with one objective: to educate people about how to drink and enjoy Mexico's liquid delights. Expect food and drink pairings and cocktail masterclasses – salt and lime will be banned at the door along with novelty sombreros. This is a sipping only zone.

Over 1000 agave enthusiasts came along to join in the fun at last year's Tequila and Mezcal Fest in London and organisers are hoping that this year will be even more successful.

To give everyone a real taste of Mexico, special guest speakers such as Tomas Estes, Tequila Ambassador to Europe, and Eduardo Gomez Resendiz, the founder of Tequila Fest, will lead blind tastings and delve into the differences between blanco, reposado and anejo.

The cream of Liverpool's bartenders will also be on hand to show you how to make the perfect margarita and other tequila and mezcal-based cocktails.

With all that sipping and savouring, some sustenance will be required. Foodies will be happy with the authentic Mexican delights from Lucha Libre and delicious cocktails from El Bandito Bar, Liverpool’s number one Tequila Bar.

And it wouldn't be a festival without music. Mariachi music and traditional Mexican folk dancers will make sure it's a real celebration.
