Presented at the Food Matters Live Event, the FreeFrom Eating Out Awards celebrate restaurateurs and food manufacturers who create products that exclude many of the allergens and artificial additives associated with food intolerances.
Entries were initially assessed by independent judges before the winners were announced on 18 November at the awards ceremony in London.
Tea 42 were notably mentioned by host Michelle Berriedale-Johnson for “making freefrom trendy and cool”, and were awarded first place in the Cafes, Coffee Houses, Tea Shops and Takeaways category.
Established in 2013, Tea 42 offers its own take on Afternoon Tea for gluten-free diners, as well as gluten-free fine dining dishes, and options for those with non-dairy requirements – all in a stylish, chic setting. It has become known for offering deliciously indulgent alternatives, and for providing an environment where customers can feel at ease – whatever their food preferences.
Tea 42 celebrates its first birthday this week. Managing director Will Hannah said, “We are really proud to have been recognised on a national basis at the FreeFrom Eating Out Awards for the achievements we have made in our first year. I am particularly pleased that the judges recognised the huge effort that the whole team has put in to create a restaurant where, whatever your food preferences, you can indulge and enjoy what the judges called our unique, trendy and cool atmosphere.
“These awards, combined with the successes of the past year, really give us the confidence to press ahead with the national roll out of the brand – I am really looking forward to announcing details of our next two sites in the coming weeks.”
