LUNCH at Tattu feels gloriously, gorgeously decadent. The dimly-lit moody interior with all its intricate lattice panelling seems almost too special for a Monday afternoon. Sat under the stunning cherry blossom tree, it was something we got over pretty quickly. After all, life is too short to chain yourself to your desk with a cup-a-soup when you could be exploring Tattu's new dim sum menu.

Salads don't normally whet the appetite of anyone apart from maybe Peter Rabbit, but this is something else

It may feel indulgent, but lunch at Tattu is actually great value with four dim sum for £21 which was more than enough, Three dim sum at £17 would be plenty for most normal people. It's also more practical than you might think: service was friendly but efficient and the dishes all arrive in time for you to be back at the office if you're not making an afternoon of it.

In the name of journalistic research (and greed, obviously) we shared eight different dim sum, making a real banquet for just the two of us. My favourite was the Angus beef salad. Salads don't normally whet the appetite of anyone apart from maybe Peter Rabbit, but this is something else. There aren't enough superlatives to describe the zingy, crunchy freshness of the salad or the butter-soft beef which had been lightly-seared around the edges.

We must both have been in full-on carnivore mode because across the table the beef and foie gras gyoza was the top pick. The taste was rich and luxurious, but lifted and enlivened by the freshness of the soya beans.

The prawn har gau was another memorable dish. What prawns – huge, sweet and meaty, they were complemented by the salty tang of the soy and mirin dressing.

With other tempting options like the chicken truffle shumai with its heady scent, visually stunning wild mushroom spring rolls, Chilean sea bass parcels, crisp chilli salt squid and chicken and chilli gau with its knock-out XO sauce, your only problem is deciding what to order.

The Dim Sum Lunch menu is served 12pm – 2:30pm Monday – Thursday and 12pm – 5pm Friday - Sunday.
