THE NUMBER one poker league in Manchester, Tango Poker League, has had its first final – and the results are in.

Held at the Albion Pub, Salford, 61 runners sat down to see who could become be the new Tango Poker League Champion – picking up a top prize of £600.

With 15k of starting chips each, and 30 minute blinds, there was plenty of early play.

Eventually, the field was down to the final table, and all of the final nine made the money. The field looked like this:

Seat 1: Chris Gallagher – 210k
Seat 2: Alec Pagel – 52k
Seat 3: Steve Francis – 55k
Seat 4: Lewis Greenhalgh – 53k
Seat 5: Faz Karodia – 24k
Seat 6: Jonathon Howell – 191k
Seat 7: Andy McGuigan – 91k
Seat 8: Curt Cragg – 58k
Seat 9: Malcolm Young – 194k

Before too long, and after a hard fought final table, the field was down to just two players – Chris Gallagher and Malcolm Young going heads up.

Malcolm Young, playing in his first Tango Poker Final, took a big hit with the field down to five players, but brilliantly built his stack back up to last the duration of the tournament.

Chris Gallagher, chip leader from the get go of the final table, had managed to keep pressure on the smaller stacks, carefully not over-playing his hands.

Before too long, the winner was crowned.

Malcolm looked down at 10, 2 in the big blind, and when the flop J, 9, 8 hit the board giving Malcolm an open-ended straight draw, he moved all in.

Chris quickly called having hit top pair with his J, 4.
When the turn is came a 4, and the river a J, Malcolm had missed his straight, and Chris had hit a full house.

And so, Malcolm Young picked up £240 plus a seat to the next Confidential tournament for second place, whilst Chris Gallagher is lauded the new Tango Poker League Champion – winning £600 for first prize.

Congratulations to Chris on his Tango Poker League victory.
