BIG congrats to Sian Astley, the south Manchester based lady builder, landlord, blogger, stylist and presenter who has just clinched her first national TV series.

And she would love to be able to rescue properties around Manchester, and not just because it will be easier. She said: “I want to show off the area and show what can be done.”

She has been asked by IWC Media, the makers of Location, Location, Location to front their latest show for Five. Naturally it is about property but this one will see Sian helping to rescue homes that have had DIY disasters.

She said: “I will be getting my hands dirty but it is more about showing and encouraging the home owners to get things fixed and finished – they have to do some of the work too.

“It’s an amalgamation of different ideas with us working to an agreed budget. I will be showing the best way to get things done, how to make use of local suppliers and how to make their home truly gorgeous.

“It’s basically what I have been doing myself for the last 15 years.”

Sian first hit our screens when she appeared on Property Ladder and got a voice-over mauling from Sarah Beeny but had the last laugh when her renovated property sold for the price she wanted.

She then had a stint on Channel M and was a natural in front of the cameras.

She is also just about the most energetic person I know, committed to making the properties she lets out as great as possible, supports local shops and businesses around her Didsbury stomping ground and is all round lovely. She deserves her break.

Sian said: “The approach came out of the blue but it is a great example of the power of social media. My website and blog Moregeous and active use of Twitter played a huge part in raising my whole profile nationally and I am chuffed to bits. It’s what I have been working towards.”

So if you have embarked on a DIY project and abandoned it half way through, if you are stuck with a half done house and need help get in touch with the production company and tell them your woes.
