The popular chain will occupy The Old Handmade Burger Co. site on Deansgate
ROSA’s Thai Café, the successful group of London restaurants founded by Thai chef Saiphin Moore, is gearing up to open its doors in Manchester next year in The Old Courthouse on Deansgate, formerly occupied by Handmade Burger Co.
They also offer a few less well-known Thai surprises (the spicy aromatic north Thai sausage is a banger)
Launched in 2008 by Saiphin and her husband Alex on East London’s famous Brick Lane, Rosa’s Thai Café has built a reputation for bold, punchy flavours and dishes inspired by Saiphin’s childhood, where she grew up on her family’s farm in Northern Thailand. Rosa’s use the best in fresh British produce alongside traditional Thai ingredients including coconut milk, jasmine rice and tamarind paste, the key ingredient in their best-selling Pad Thai, which are sourced directly from farmers in Thailand.
The 60 cover Manchester restaurant will open for lunch and dinner seven days a week, with a range of menus, including their all day menu, weekday lunch, veggie friendly and coeliac friendly menus.
As well as classic curries they also offer a few less well-known Thai surprises (the spicy aromatic north Thai sausage is a banger). Drinks will include a selection of food-friendly wine, beer, Thai whisky and a range of cocktails including Rosa’s signature boozy ice tea.
There are now 15 Rosa’s Thai Cafés across London, and Saiphin can still be found cooking in the kitchens. She also continues to maintain personal relationships with the farmers in Thailand who supply Rosa’s and is continually searching for new ingredients to incorporate into the menu.
Rosa’s Thai Café’s first site outside London was in Liverpool (reviewed here), which opened on the Royal Albert Dock in February this year. This was closely followed by an opening in Trinity Leeds (reviewed here) in May.

We’re really looking forward to becoming part of the city’s vibrant food and drink scene, and have a lot of plans for this restaurant which will set it apart from our Rosa’s in London. We’ve got a busy few months ahead and are really excited about opening our doors next spring!”
The restaurant will take both advance reservations and walk-ins.
