THIEVES have targeted a popular pop-up city centre drinks retail and bar project by Manchester drink consultants The Liquorists, making off with thousands of pounds worth of rare spirits, iPads and laptops.
“We’re livid that something we, CityCo and Diageo have put our hearts and souls into has been turned over like this. But the bastards won’t beat us out of business that easy.
Reserve on King Street, opened with the backing of CityCo and drinks brand Diageo in early October in order to breathe a spot of life into the ailing street, was targeted on Friday 29 October in the early hours of the morning. A police officer found the back door to Reserve hanging from its hinges (see photo).
All unopened stock, including rare and valuable spirits such as Talliskers Port Rughe whisky and Ron Zaccapa XO rum had been taken from the stock room along with iPads used to take payments at the bar, three laptops and cash from the bar float.

Those hardy Liquorists say they’re pulling out all the stops to ensure that the party continues on King Street. Founder Tom Sneesby said: “We’re livid that something we, CityCo and Diageo have put our hearts and souls into has been turned over like this. But the bastards won’t beat us out of business that easy.
"We’re calling on all our friends new and old to come down and show their support for Reserve. It’s been such a hit so far, we’re only here for five more weeks and we will go on.”
The Liquorists it seemed are as good as their word and have already re-opened. All masterclasses and tasting session bookings will go ahead.
