SOME of the world’s best converged on Salford Quays' new Wake Park (see our review here) yesterday as part of Red Bull’s Road to Harbour Reach tour.

The event saw fourteen of the sport’s elite tear it up across the park’s kickers and pads, performing an array of 'narly' stunts and tricks in preparation for the international competition taking place at Liverpool’s Albert Dock this Saturday, 8 June.

Last year’s champion, Dominik Hernler said: "This year is set to be the biggest yet, with a high profile list of world class riders on the invite list.

"It’s also great that young talent are being offered the chance to step it up and compete alongside the world’s best. Hopefully they’ll demonstrate just what they have to offer here in the UK."

This year saw the introduction of two wildcard entries that will compete alongside the professionals. Chosen from 30 up-and-coming wakeboarders from around the country, the two UK-amateurs have been abducted by the team, chucked in the back of the Red Bull DJ truck and forced to tour with the pros.

Lounging around in deckchairs, eating BBQ food, and supping enough free Red Bull to propel Felix Baumgartner back up into his little capsule. Sounds crap.

Here’s some of the pros 'stomping' it and some beginners, well… not:
