THE CITY centre's only outdoor ice rink is set to return to Spinningfields for the festive season.

"The ice rink has always been a huge attraction in the run-up to Christmas, bringing thousands of people to the estate."

Back for its seventh successive year, the ice rink will set up home on The Lawns from Thursday 6 November until Sunday 4 January.

The ice rink will be open to the public seven days a week from 10.30am until 9pm at weekends and 3.10pm to 9pm from Monday to Friday, giving the public the chance to skate either in the morning, afternoon, or under the stars (see main image above).

The rink will also provide a viewing platform for those who would rather watch from the sidelines with a hot mulled wine than get a soggy bottom on the ice.

For those less confident skaters, the penguin skating supports will also be back to help the younger members of the family, parents and even grandparents join the fun.

Libby Witherden, Head of Marketing and Events at Capital Properties, said; “The ice rink has always been a huge attraction in the run-up to Christmas, bringing thousands of people to the estate. We’re proud to have created a real festive atmosphere with all our activity and believe Winter at Spinningfields has something for everyone.”

Tickets start at £9 for adults, with discounts for student nights and family tickets. Prior to the opening of the rink and until 14 November, there will be a limited number of early bird tickets available for £6.00 for every session throughout the season (30 per session), which can only be bought online.
