AT 8.15pm on Wednesday Police were dispatched to Beard Road in Gorton after receiving a 999 call reporting a domestic incident with a 23-year-old man, since named as ice-cream factory worker Jordan Begley, in possession of a knife.
“At this time it is unclear what happened but at some point afterwards the man suffered a medical episode.”
Officers discharged a 50,000 volt police taser stun gun to detain the man.
Mr Begley then suffered, what the police are calling, 'a medical episode'. Paramedics arrived on the scene and attempted resuscitation before he was taken to hospital, where he died.
It is believed that Jordan suffered from a heart condition and had previously received treatment for an irregular heartbeat.

“Paramedics performed first aid on the man at the scene before he was taken to hospital where he sadly died.
“Greater Manchester Police has reported the incident to Her Majesty’s Coroner and to the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) and is working with them to establish the full circumstances that lead to the man’s death.
“Specially trained family liaison officers are supporting his family during this very difficult time.”
It is reported that the man lived in the area with his mother, who had locked Jordan in the house following a heated domestic incident.
Police say that Chief Constable Sir Peter Fahy and GM Police and Crime Commissioner Tony Lloyd have met with the family of the man who died.
Chief Constable Peter Fahy later stated, "Our sympathies are with the family and friends of the man who are going through a traumatic time.
"I have expressed my sincere condolences to the family and promised them that we will fully co-operate with the Independent Police Complaints Commission investigation.
“The family want to get answers and we will work with the IPCC to ensure that we understand what happened. It is important now to allow the IPCC time to conduct that investigation and not to speculate about what took place.”
