Friday 6 September: Man Charged After Elderly Man Attacked In His Home In Bolton
Daniel Crompton, 24, of no fixed address has been charged by police with murder, robbery and burglary.
He is due before Bolton magistrates' court today.
Frank Worsley, 87, was woken up by an intruder at his home on Longfield Road, Bolton, in the early hours of Saturday 3 August 2013.
Frank sadly died on Tuesday 20 August after suffering a stroke and bleed to his brain.

Thursday 5 September: Motorcyclist Dies Following Collision With Lorry In Bolton
UPDATE: The man has been named as 59-year-old Michael Stockton.
Shortly before 9.10am on Thursday 5 September police were called to a collision between a lorry and a motorbike on Bradford Road at the exit slip-road from the St Peters Way (A666).
The man was taken to hospital but pronounced dead a short time later.
A 32-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death whilst driving without due care.
Thursday 5 September: Man Arrested After Tweet In Relation To Michael Turner Trial
Michael Turner (stage name Michael Le Vell)On Wednesday 4 September a 43-year-old man from the Gloucester area was arrested following a tweet sent relating to the trial of Coronation Street actor, Michael Turner.
He was arrested on suspicion of breaching s(1) Sexual Offences Act 1992 in relation to the public identification of a victim of sexual abuse. Under the Sexual Offences Amendment Act 1992, all victims of sex abuse are automatically granted anonymity for life.
Superintendent Phil Davies from Greater Manchester Police, said: “Public identification of victims of sex abuse, in particular child victims engaged in court proceedings, can cause both immediate and long term distress and harm, especially in cases as serious as this.
“The same principles apply to social media as they do to the mainstream media, and we are investigating this matter robustly."
The man has been released on bail.

Wednesday 4 September: Image Released Following City Centre Rape
Rape suspectPolice have released this image of a man wanted in connection with a rape in Manchester city centre.
On Sunday 10 February 2013 at around 2.30am, the 24-year-old victim left the Poptastic night club with a man and began walking along Bloom Street.
As the pair approached the junction with Harter Street, the victim was raped.
They both returned to the nightclub before the victim later reported the crime to police.
The man is described as being of mixed race, in his mid 20s or early 30s, of slim build, over 6ft tall, had a shaved head and was clean shaven. He wore a white t-shirt that had a large design on the front and dark blue jeans.

Wednesday 4 September: Police Piecing Together Strange Domestic Incident
A man has been arrested after a woman was stabbed in her home in Oldham on Monday 2 September.
After the stabbing, which is believed to be a domestic incident, police were called to Henshaw Street in Oldham following reports that the same man had been involved in a collision with a bus at around 7pm.
It is understood that both incidents are linked.
The 34-year-old man, who suffered serious injuries but is currently in a stable condition, has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

Tuesday 3 September: CCTV Image Released Following Castlefield Pub Break-In
Liverpool Road pub break-in suspectBetween around 2.30am and 3.30am on 11 August the suspect forced his way into the cellar of the pub on Liverpool Road, Castlefield.
The offender stole a bike, a till computer and cash from the pub.
The suspect is described as being a white man, 5ft 10in tall of medium to large build. He had a fully shaved head and was wearing a dark jumper with horizontal stripes and jeans.

Monday 2 September: CCTV Of Man Jailed For Armed Robbery
David JonesDavid Jones, 40, of Rushcroft Road, Shaw, has been sentenced for five years following one count of robbery, one count of armed robbery and two counts of possessing an imitation shotgun.
At around 9.30pm on Saturday 11 May 2013, Jones drove up to an Asda petrol station kiosk on Milne Road, Chadderton, pointed the imitation shotgun at the cashier and demanded money. She handed over the cash before he drove off.
The next day, at around 8.25pm, Jones targeted a William Hill bookmakers on Oldham Road, Rochdale. This time he walked away empty handed after staff, spotting his balaclava, retreated into the back of the shop.
Detective Constable Dave Meeney from the Serious Organised Crime Group said: “From what officers uncovered, Jones was in a lot of debt and thought he would target businesses to help pay for it. Now he is paying for what he has done and is behind bars.”

Sunday 1 September: Police Continue To Appeal For Witnesses After Man Stabbed In Own Home
Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses after a Wigan man was stabbed four times in his own home on Diamond Street in Leigh.
At around 5.30pm on Sunday 25 August, the 62-year-old victim had just returned home when the offender forced his way into the house, stabbed the victim four times in the back and chest and stole his wallet as he lay defenceless on the ground.
The thief then fled.
Witnesses saw a man of the same appearance attend the victim's house earlier in the day and on a previous occasion.
The offender is described as white, about 5ft 9in/10in tall, in his 30s, medium build with short fair coloured hair.
Detective Chief Inspector Howard Millington said: "This man has spent the best part of a week in hospital and he remains very poorly. He has been subjected to a violent, terrifying attack in the sanctity of his own home and left with possibly life-changing injuries.
"We, and his family, remain hopeful he will recover but his condition has not improved since he was first admitted and he is gravely ill.
"Understandably his family are both desperate for him to recover but also for answers, so we are renewing our appeal for anyone with information about this horrendous stabbing to come forward."

Saturday 31 August: Pregnant Woman Robbed In Whalley Range
Just after 6pm on Thursday 29 August, A pregnant woman, 43, was pushing her other two children, nine and three, along Wood Road in Whalley Range when thieves snatched her bag.
The two men approached her from behind, one pushed her in the back while the other snatched her bag containing the victim's purse, cash and mobile phone.
The offenders, both described as about 16, Asian and of a slim build, fled down Carlton Road.
Detective Constable Paul Jackson said: "These two callous thieves stooped to an unforgivable low, targeting a vulnerable woman who is both pregnant and looking after her two other young children.
"She had no way of defending herself against these opportunistic and cowardly thieves and as any mother reading or hearing this will sympathise with, she was absolutely terrified and just wanted to protect her children. Thankfully neither she or the children were injured although she is very distraught."
