MANCHESTER’S biggest summer music festival has announced its relocation to Heaton Park having outgrown its original Platt Fields home.
The fourth instalment of the weekender, which has grown year on year to become a major national event, will follow last year’s Stone Roses concerts by inviting thousands of music lovers to one of England’s premier outdoor venues.
This year’s event boasts a line-up to make other major festivals envious, with The Horrors, Plan B, Julio Bashmore and TNGHT (live) among the headliners.

Along with the new location being revealed, organisers have announced a few last minute acts including Melbourne four-piece The Temper Trap, as well as exciting artists Baauer, Boddika, Breakbot and TEED (DJ set).

The Temper Trap
Organisers say the venue upgrade will allow for a ‘wider spread of music and entertainment including larger dance arenas, more spectacular production and many hidden nooks and crannies ensuring the biggest Parklife Weekender ever staged’.
Organiser, Sam Kandel said: “We are very lucky that no other large scale events have been planned for the site this year, so that Parklife Weekender is able to work with Manchester City Council for what is our biggest and best festival yet.
“The Parklife team are very proud to see this year’s festival at Heaton Park – it definitely feels like 2013 is going to be a key moment in Parklife weekender’s history.”
Earlier rumours suggested the event may move to the 270-acre Wythenshawe Park, but it seems organisers have their sights set on continued expansion with this move to the much larger Heaton Park site which is set in over 600-acres.
The Horrors
Councillor Nigel Murphy, executive member for the environment said: “We’ve worked closely with the Parklife organisers to make sure this successful event can continue to be held in Manchester. We look forward to the long term benefits which events of this nature will bring to Heaton Park, Manchester residents and other people who regularly use this wonderful free facility”.
The Parklife Weekender takes place on 8/9 June 2013 at the start of the UK’s summer festival season. Weekend tickets are priced at £69.50 and are available from www.parklife.uk.com.
