THE MAN arrested by detectives investigating the tragic death of Robert Hart at Heaton Park's Parklife Weekender on Saturday 7 June is not Robert's killer, according to police.

The suspect has, however, been charged with other unrelated assaults at the festival, one in which a man was kicked in the head and the other offence relates to a man being punched in the face.

“I want to reassure the public, who have been hugely supportive and helpful with this investigation that our search for Robert’s attacker continues."

Leon Anthony Wong, 31, of Elstree Court, Widnes, Cheshire, has been charged with Section 18 Assault (causing grievous bodily harm with intent) affray and causing actual bodily harm (ABH) and is due to appear at Manchester City Magistrates' Court on Tuesday 24 June 2014.

(The S18 charge is in relation to an incident that has been widely circulated on social media and relates to an image depicting a man being kicked in the head. As this is now under judicial consideration we are not permitted to use the image.)

Police continue the hunt for Robert Hart's killer.

Detective Inspector Richard Eales, said: “We received some information about Robert Hart’s death that led to this arrest, however the charges in no way relate to the attack on Robert and we now do not believe there to be any link between Robert and the man charged.

“It is important the judicial process is allowed to run its course and the case heard unprejudiced in a court of law, I would urge people not to speculate or pass comment about this incident, especially on social media.

“I want to reassure the public, who have been hugely supportive and helpful with this investigation that our search for Robert’s attacker continues and our resolve to see him brought to justice remains as strong as ever.

“I also want to remind people that the organisers of Parklife are offering a £20k reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible, so please if you know who attacked Robert or have information that can help, get in touch.”
