CHRISTMAS is coming. In about five months time. But as every clued-up party planner knows, preparation is everything. The best places book up early for the key dates in December, and there's deals to be had if you get in there before the crowds.

If you're weighing up your options for this year's Xmas shindig, take a look at what they're offering at Dive NQ. They hosted a summer Christmas do last week to preview their festive party menu. And if it tasted this good on a balmy summer evening, imagine how lovely it'll be on a crisp winter's night.
Their menu will suit groups who don't fancy a formal a Christmas meal but still want all those nostalgic festive flavours. We devoured succulent, pulled turkey sliders, moreish barbecue bacon balls, and gooey, warm mozzarella sticks with cranberry sauce.
There were fried jalapeño peppers stuffed with bacon and cheese, prawn lollipops with chilli dipping sauce, and deep fried stuffing balls which sound wrong but tasted just right.
Then came sharing platters that were perfect for a drinks do. The veggie one was laden with corn bread, maple-glazed pumpkin fries, veggi ribs, and chestnut and feta bakes. (There were lots of vegetarian options throughout the menu). The meaty platter featured sweet, juicy cola ham, suicide wings, a rack of ribs, and stuffing balls in bacon.
They've got a talented team in the kitchen and they clearly care about the produce they serve – we were impressed with the quality throughout. And it was all good stuff for a party – the kind of food you can eat standing up, one-handed, while you hold a Christmassy cocktail in the other.
Dive NQ has plenty of options for a sit-down do too. Their snug gives smaller groups some privacy. Big parties can take centre stage in the main area.

Back at the party, we sipped festive cocktails, hummed along to Christmas tunes, and almost forgot it was only halfway through summer. Is it too early to start counting down the days?
