BRITISH Cycling stars Sir Chris Hoy, Laura Trott and Sarah Storey and taekwondo's Jade Jones will be among the gold medallists on show as Manchester hails its Olympic and Paralympic heroes on 26 October.
Greater Manchester-based athletes won nine Olympic golds, accounting for almost a third of the 29 Olympic golds won by Team GB - a tally which would have put Manchester eighth in the overall medal table - and 16 Paralympic golds.
They will be joined by a host of other cycling stars and Olympic and Paralympic athletes.
Along with the elite athletes, others who played a role in making the 2012 Games such a resounding success – including volunteers, coaches and Olympic torchbearers – will be honoured.
The celebration will take place in Albert Square from 5pm-6.30pm on Friday 26 October.
It will be compered by BBC commentator Paul Dickenson, a familiar voice and himself a former Olympian, and feature memorable Olympic and Paralympic moments on a big screen along with music and a few surprises.

More than 1,000 Manchester volunteers and staff supported the operation of the Games.
And more than 570,000 people lapped up the success by watching the Olympic and Paralympic Games at the Live Site in Exchange Square, with a further 370,000 spectators watching Olympic football matches at Old Trafford as well as a further 70,000 welcoming the Olympic torch.
