Eat the week at Mr Thomas’s Chop House

At Mr Thomas’s Chop House, you can enjoy traditional British cooking with a modern take, prepared to order using fresh ingredients sourced from local suppliers. Coming up to its 150th birthday, Mr Thomas’s is the original Chop House, and with Art Nouveau detailing inside, you can be assured of a historical meal.

Outside, meanwhile, Mr Thomas’s has one of the best beer gardens going in the city centre, hidden away next to St Anne’s Church and a suntrap during the day. Perfect for after-work drinks or a mid-shopping stop-off, pop it on your go-to list for summer.

Food is available from noon into the evening every day, with the bar menu offering sharing platters, including the Great British Charcuterie Board, and Mrs Beeton-style classics, from Tom’s pale ale-battered sustainable fish and chips to corned beef hash. These are also on the à la carte, along with extras such as Grandad’s Olde English Sausages and mash, and braised steak and kidney pudding.

On Sundays, two courses are £19.95 and three are £24.95, with traditional roast dinners including 28-day aged roast rump of beef with Yorkshire pudding and half a roast Shropshire chicken with sage and onion stuffing, along with all the trimmings. Seems the Chop House has your week wrapped up!
