Same thing, different name? Not quite. They've invested in a Josper Grill – the hottest indoor charcoal grill around – and have transformed the menu accordingly.

Food 7It's a mouth-watering read: steaks, lobster, sea bass, chateaubriand. Executive head chef Andrew Wilkie has sourced them all from some of the UK's best suppliers.

So there's beef from the Duke of Buccleuch Estates, chicken from Goosnargh, sea bass from Anglesey, scallops hand dived in Orkney, lobster from Usan, and salmon hand-smoked in Inverawe.

The man has connections – he gets his lobster super-fresh, hours before it reaches the top restaurants in London.

To make sure his chefs get the best out of these fine foods, Wilkie fires up the Josper Grill to between 300º and 350º.

Unlike many grills, it has a closing door so that nothing escapes during the cooking process. The high temperatures and closed door results in big, juicy flavours when the food hits your plate.

So what's on the menu? Starters include Inverawe smoked salmon, dressed East Coast crab and grilled asparagus.

Fish dishes include Usan lobster, Anglesey sea bass and North Sea lemon sole.

Meat lovers can enjoy a full range of steaks from a 275g flat iron up to a 400g cote de boeuf.

Pastry chef Brett Pistorious has created a dessert menu that features a variety of classics including sticky toffee pudding, vanilla crème brulee and his own secret recipe cheesecake.

As well as the a la carte menu, The River Bar & Grill does a monthly-changing Grill menu (£19.95 for a three-course lunch, £24.95 for a three-course dinner including a glass of wine).

They also serve afternoon tea daily (£22.50 or £33 for champagne afternoon tea), and have an excellent value Sunday lunch (£19.95 for three courses).
