CONFIDENTIAL has wind of movement on windy Hardman Square.
...more popular sporting dates may be ticketed
The former Long Bar, Haig Club and Rust & Stone anti-tank bunker, sorry unit, in Spinningfields is be converted into an upmarket sports bar ahead of this summer’s bumper sports calendar.
The Club House will take up temporary residence beside The Lawn Club and be decked out with multiple screens and comfy places for your bottom ahead of the Euro 2016, the Tour de France, Wimbledon and the Olympic Games.
We’re told the bar will offer ‘a simple and quality range of drinks, including craft lagers and ale, a modest but considered selection of cocktails and a hand-picked range of wine, spirits and Prosecco’.
During more prominent events, The Club House will serve up befitting ‘nibbles’ such as strawberries and cream during Wimbledon, Camembert for the Tour de France and anabolic steroids during the Olympics.
We also hear the more popular sporting dates may be ticketed, presumably to discourage the braying mob which often during the height of summer turned The Lawns into Faliraki.
The Club House will be closed Monday to Tuesday unless there’s a major sporting event or the sun has his hat on.
Oh look an outdoor TV...
