PLANNING permission has been granted for X1 MediaCity - the largest residential development in the North West.

"Since launching our first joint venture with X1 Developments back in 2012, we have sold out eight sites and demand for X1 projects is extremely high."

With 1,036 apartments and over 22,700sqft of commerical space, the four new towers will transform the Salford Quays skyline. They will be located adjacent to the Harbour City Metrolink stop.

Building by Vermont CL on the new £200 million development, launched this month by Salford-based property investment company Knight Knox International in a joint-venture scheme with X1 Developments, is expected to start in February 2015.

The four 27-storey towers will be comprise a mix of studios, one, two and three bed apartments starting from £94,950 during phase one.

The first and second floors will be made available to commercial and retail units as well as providing a gym and cinema for residents.

Having already launched previous X1 projects in the area, including X1 Salford Quays Phases one, two and three, Knight Knox International has been preparing the latest project for some time. Head of Marketing for Knight Knox, Samantha Jones, said:

“Investor appetite has grown in line with confidence in the UK buy-to-let market, and we have seen heightened interest in the local market over the past eighteen months. Since launching our first joint venture with X1 Developments back in 2012, we have sold out eight sites and demand for X1 projects is extremely high." 

Working in joint ventures since 2012, the two companies have launched fifteen residential and student accommodation developments onto the UK market including X1 Town Hall at the former Salford Town Hall, and X1 Chapel Street.
