ESSEX boy Mark Wright is a jammy bloke.
Unless you’ve been away hunting for neutrinos in Antarctica for the past couple years, you’ll know Wright was the cheeky charmer on that ITV reality show about tans, all-white parties and not eating ‘carbs before Marbs'.
Now, the 27-year-old is forging quite a credible career as a TV and radio presenter, recently taking up a permanent spot on Heart FM.
"The wedding is in the early part of next summer and it’s in England. It’s not in Essex and it’s not in Manchester. That's all I'm going to say."
The celeb-obsessed amongst us have also been basking in the matching white smiles and perma-tanned bodies of Wright and his fiancé, former Coronation Street actress Michelle Keegan. Together they've gained a substantial following. It's all so sickeningly picture perfect.
At the Heart FM Northwest launch, Rosso
We met briefly at Rosso on King Street (Mark’s favourite Manchester eatery), as he hosted Heart FM's North West launch party. As one of the radio station's most popular presenters, Wright will be playing club classics and attempting to appeal to our Northern ears.
You’ve made a nice transition from reality TV star to presenter. Has presenting come naturally?
It was a challenge. I’m feeding myself in. I’m presenting the VTs on Surprise Surprise - just getting myself in gradually, rather than holding the whole show together. I’m presenting The Hub on This Morning. I’m just learning the trade.
What do you prefer, TV or Radio? It’s not like you have a face for radio...
They’re both a challenge but I feel like I’ve taken both on quite quickly. Presenting is something I believe deep down I was meant to get into and eventually get to where I want to be - Saturday night television.
L'Oréal Blackett interviews Mark Wright
On Heart FM how do you plan to win over our Northern ears?
Well, my favourites are Show Me Love by CeCe Penniston and Candi Staton's Young at Heart – that’s me and my mum’s favourite and Michelle’s mum's favourite too. All of the club classics I play are tune after tune (Wright then starts singing).
You're in Manchester quite a bit. Is Rosso one of your favourite food spots?
I come to Rosso a lot. I’m very good friends with one of the owners, Nurez. He’s a very good friend of mine, he feels like family. What he does for his customers is amazing – he wants to ensure people are having a good time. Even if it is giving people free drinks he'll will do it. That’s why I love it.
If you were to order for me in Rosso, what would you pick?
The Wagyu Kobe Beef. It’s amazing.
You and Michelle Keegan have become a well-known celebrity couple. When’s the wedding?
The wedding is in the early part of next summer and it’s in England. It’s not in Essex and it’s not in Manchester. That's all I'm going to say.
Mark and Michelle - matching smiles.
How do you handle the pressure of men fancying your Mrs? (asked by by a passing tipsy socialite, Mr J Sky)
I love it. Genuinely I love it. She tweeted a picture of her the other day with her abs out in the mirror. And I was like yes girl you go do it. At the end of the day she’s mine.
What about when you get hit on. Does she mind?
I think she’s the same. I guess it makes us both feel priveledge but you'd have to ask her. I’ve never asked my fiancé, 'how do you feel about girls fancying me?' - I’m more modest than that.
