Due to launch this month, the venue will pay homage to the site’s baking history
Something’s been cooking in the former Pub/Zoo venue. The bar and events space is to become…well, another bar and events space, themed on the site’s history as Duncan & Foster bakery back in the 1900s.
Stonegate Pub Company, who own the Grosvenor Street site, have spent £450,000 overhauling the student hangout into The Bread Shed - promising a ‘great space for a range of events, along with a big selection of cask beers, specialist gins and honest food’ (aka burgers, pies and steak).
The longstanding XS Malarkey comedy night will also be returning, following a temporary stint at The Comedy Store.
Scheduled to open on 25 August 2017, the Bread Shed will be split into two sections. The main events space will host live bands and comedians on a weekly basis, along with sport screenings and club nights ‘for fans of K-Pop, guilty pleasures and alternative hits midweek and into the weekend.’
The Flour & Flagon room, meanwhile, will focus on food - with deals including cask beer and burgers on Tuesdays, 2-4-1 cocktails and Happy Hour from 5-8pm on Fridays.

The venue will be open from midday until 12pm (Sunday to Wednesday), 1pm (Thursday) and 3pm (Friday and Saturday).
Hayes, General Manager at The Bread Shed, said: “We can’t wait to open our doors and show the people of Manchester what we’re all about.
"We’ve cherry-picked our offer to ensure that we’ve cut out all the gimmicks and fads, so that customers can trust us to provide something that they will love - whether that’s good food, good beer or a good night watching one of our live acts or coming to one of our club nights.”
