BROADWAY classic, Mack & Mabel, is coming to the Opera House with Michael Ball taking the title role of Mack Sennett.

A real tribute to the grit and glamour of the silent movie era

The show, which features an outstanding score and timeless hits like I Won't Send Roses and Time Heals Everything, will be on from Monday 12 October until Saturday 24 October.

It marks a return to the Opera House for Michael Ball who first got his big break there. Speaking about Mack & Mabel's forthcoming run at Manchester Opera House, the twice Olivier award-winning star said: “It gave me my big break in Pirates of Penzance in 1985 when I performed at the Opera House. To be returning with a show I’m just so excited about seems ideal.”

The story is based on the real-life romance between Hollywood legends Mack Stennett and Mabel Normand. It tells the tale of pioneering film-makers who changed the world, surrounded by the fun of the silent screen with heroes in capes, girls tied to the tracks, bathing beauties and the chaos of the Keystone Kops.

Produced by an award-winning team, this dazzling musical comedy is a real tribute to the grit and glamour of the silent movie era. It received eight Tony award nominations when it premièred on Broadway in 1974 and it remains a must-see classic today.
