A very cool way to show someone you like them
ROMANTIC gestures don't have to be extravagant, and Valentine's surprises don't have to follow the traditional format of meal for two with obligatory candlelight and wine.
At San Carlo Bottega, they've created three Valentine's cocktails which make for a coolly casual yet high-impact way to show someone you're thinking of them.
The Love at First Sip (£9.50) is a beguiling blend of almond syrup, lime, cranberry juice, Cointreau and raspberry vodka. Sweet and refreshing but with depth and complexity, it's a cocktail for grown-ups. The virgin Love at First Sip (£4.95) is just as delicious even without the vodka kick.
Or you can opt for the simple, elegant 'Say It With Bubbles' (£9.50), the cocktail equivalent of a single red rose. It's a flute of Santa Margherita Prosecco, tinted with a delicate rose syrup and garnished with rose bud petals.
If you want to eat while you're there, San Carlo Bottega has an enticing menu of small plates perfect for sharing. The menu changes with the seasons but you will always find a good selection of anti-pasti and cicchetti with a focus on fresh seafood, home-made pasta, and premium meats.
You can enjoy your cocktails at the bar, which has floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking Exchange Square. Located within Selfridge's, the setting is a statement in itself...a little bit exclusive, a little bit special, with some of the best views in the city.
